See firsthand how raw cotton transforms into the vibrant, high-quality fabrics we love to stitch into our quilts. We will meet in Westlands pickup point and proceed via shuttle for the 45 minute drive to the factory in Thika. We will be guided on a factory tour through the cotton processing, weaving and production of pure Kenyan cotton fabric.Thika Cloth Mills was founded in 1958 by Mahendra Khimasia and his brothers as a small family-run local manufacturing and tailoring outfit. Thika Cloth Mills rebuilt its supply chain by partnering directly with thousands of local cotton farmers across regions like Homa Bay, Kitui, and Makueni. Today, the made-in-Kenya certified plant operates 24 hours a day across three shifts, producing over 500,000 to 1 million metres of fabric monthly and serving local small-scale designers with flexible minimum order quantities.
